Niagara University Alumni: Featured Story

We are proud to share that Upstate Roots Design was recently featured by our alma mater, Niagara University! It’s such an honor to reflect on how far we’ve come since launching our business just a few years ago. You can read the full article here.

A little backstory: Meagan and I (Kristin), both graduated from Niagara in 2004 and had successful careers in sales. But we wanted something more fulfilling, something that allowed us to blend creativity with our business skills. Thanks to the education we received at Niagara, we felt well-equipped to take the leap. Our background in business management helped us create a solid plan, and we knew that the key to success would be taking our time and being thoughtful in how we built our company.

In 2018, we officially launched Upstate Roots Design, and after the first nine months of building our reputation, we completed our first staging job in 2019. From there, our business grew—people connected with our story, and our brand started to take on a life of its own. It’s incredible to see how many clients are now craving the unique style and personal touch we bring to their homes.

One of our most exciting milestones is the recent purchase of a cobblestone farmhouse built in 1832 in North Greece, NY, which will become our first-ever headquarters. As we transform this historic property into a space for our business, we’re also looking forward to new ways to connect with the community and continue expanding our services. We have big dreams for the future, and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us.

The most rewarding part of all of this is being able to offer a service that truly brightens our clients’ lives and warms their hearts—nothing beats that feeling, and it’s what keeps us inspired every day.

Thank you to Niagara University for featuring us and for being part of our journey! We’re excited to continue growing and sharing our passion for home design with the world.
