We’re thrilled to announce that Upstate Roots Design has been featured in the Rochester Business Journal! Check it out for a behind-the-scenes look at how we transformed our passion for design into a successful boutique home staging business.

The Rochester Business Journal feature delves into my (Kristin's) career shift from the corporate world to launching Upstate Roots Design with Meagan, my childhood friend. After a life-changing personal experience, I realized that my career wasn’t fulfilling, and true happiness starts with following my creative instincts. Together, we founded Upstate Roots Design with the mission to bring beautiful, purposeful design to homes on the market, as well as to those wanting to enhance their own living spaces.

From our first staged home in 2019 to now, we’ve learned, grown, and built a company that we truly believe in. We started small, often borrowing pieces from our own homes to make things work, but quickly realized we needed to expand—both in inventory and in our team. We now have over 2,000 furniture pieces and countless décor items, and we’re excited to soon bring on our first employee!

We’re proud of the work we do, from transforming vacant homes into welcoming, emotional spaces to helping homeowners redesign their interiors in a way that feels just right for them. Staging isn’t just about furniture; it’s about creating an experience that makes people feel at home the moment they walk in.

As we reflect on our journey so far, we’re grateful for the support of our families, friends, and the Rochester community. We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started!
